Today was an ordinary day. My inbox was full and tough to navigate. Social media! I went to LinkedIn for a detour. I stumbled across a client who recently operated an incentive program with us in Southeast Asia. I immediately reached out to check in as I knew the event had been a huge success.
During the debrief, my client recounted the program in great detail. As she relayed the highs and lows (mostly highs) I could sense her enthusiasm. She wasn’t talking about amenities or luxury transfers. The destination had left an indelible impression on her entire company. She spoke of fabulous food, historic beauty and inspirational moments. However, it was one particular activity which ranked higher than the rest.
Just outside of Siem Reap, incentive winners engaged in a school beautification project for the Senhoa Foundation’s Lotus Kids Club (LKC), a program dedicated to advocating education and putting an end to domestic violence and human trafficking. By the end of the day, the team had doubled the size of their recreation area and built a playground. They were rewarded with hugs from loving children and smiles from appreciative families.
So moved by the experience, the company has pledged not only additional funding, but time and resources to ensure the sustainability of this project. Within months of this initiative, key management has already returned to Siem Reap to continue their promise to leave a lasting impact, and of course, a reason to come back.
